OGX – Renewing Argan Oil of Morocco

I had heard lots of favourable things about Argan Oil so was very keen to try this product. I was a bit sceptical about using an oil on my hair especially as it instructs you to do it after washing and drying and I wasn’t wrong to be concerned. It left my hair looking oily and the top sections clumped together in a mass that did not feel good. I used it during the holidays on a day I was spending at home which I strongly advise to do so that if it appears oily or greasy you don’t have to worry about not looking your best if you’re out in public.

The first time I used it I rubbed it in to my hair all over. The next time I read that you should rub it between your hands and then apply so I did it this way from then on. However I still found the top sections looked wet and/or oily for a long time. I let my hair dry naturally but it seemed to take a longer time than normal or it just created the impression that it was still wet.  I did not like this look so on subsequent uses I just rubbed it in to the ends of my hair instead of all over to see if only applying there was an improvement. I’m pleased to say it was a lot better. I was able to go out and not hide away at home.

I did notice the first time I used it and several other times that as the day wore on that the ends of my hair did indeed feel smooth and silky which felt really nice and obviously it did do what it claimed to do. However it is very inconvenient if you can only use it on the ends of your hair or when you’re not going out. It limits its use and makes it very hard to find a time where it’s practical to use it properly.

While it did make the ends of my hair feel silky and smooth and I loved this benefit it is very expensive so I would be reluctant to buy this product at the recommended retail price. However I did see if on a few store websites a lot cheaper so if you shop around then you can save a fair bit and a little seems to go a very long way so it will last for a while. The packaging doesn’t say how often to use it which is a negative. Better instructions on how often to apply it would be an improvement. It may be that you only need to apply it once or twice a week so then it would be even more economical. I cannot say whether it gave my hair any added strength or protected it from heat and UV damage because I don’t use a dryer and I would need to use it for a lot longer to confirm or deny these claims but overall I was not very impressed with this product and I would not buy it or recommend it to others.
