I have had mixed results with Garnier products because of my sensitive skin. One face cream I tried I loved but when they replaced it with a similar recipe the new product irritated my skin and I stopped using it. Since this product was for the body I didn’t have the same concerns as I did with their facial products and as a recent convert to scrubs and exfoliating products I was more than happy to try it.
It comes in a good sized tube that is easy to use and it smells divine. It contains four nourishing oils – Argan, Macadamia, Almond and Rose – to provide moisture and also encourage the skin to create a barrier to lock in its own moisture. The Garnier Beauty Oil Scrub is meant to ‘gently exfoliate dead cells to reveal visibly smoother skin with a satin-like glow’ and so it is enriched with cupuacu seeds specifically for this purpose; to gently scrub the surface and remove any dead skin. It was indeed very gentle. You can feel the grains as you apply it but it is not harsh like some scrubs or exfoliating products and felt very pleasant on my skin. You simply rub it on and then rinse it off. A very quick and easy process to add to my normal morning shower routine. My skin felt smooth and soft and instantly pampered and did not require intense moisturising afterwards. I applied it to my elbows and knees that often have issues with rough skin and it seemed to work a treat. They are a lot softer and don’t have the rough, scaly patches that they sometimes can have.
I loved this product and the only negative thing I have to say is there are no clear instructions on the back of the tube. The only information provided was ‘Do not apply on face’. If you regularly use a scrub or other exfoliating product then this may not be a big issue but it would still be nice to have some better information for first time users. Some scrubs can be used daily and others say two to three times a week and while I guess it’s up to the individual how often they choose to use a product, some product guidelines are always useful and helpful.
It seems reasonably priced, a little goes a long while so it lasts a long time, has a lovely fragrance and feels very gentle on the skin. It is supposedly for dull dry skin but I believe it would be great for any skin type. It not only exfoliates but nourishes and illuminates the skin. While I can’t attest to the latter it certainly made my skin feel nice and soft and appeared to help lock in moisture to keep any dryness at bay. Only using it for a lot longer would allow me to see if it does indeed improve the appearance of my skin as it claims to. However I would definitely recommend this product and be more than happy for it to become a regular addition to my beauty regime.
